To celebrate his 40 decades of dressing up, we have faithfully recreated Mr Benn as the Gladiator, complete with his whistle souvenir shown at the end of the episode. First shown at our Birthday Bash Event in July, the Gladiator is a Time Limited Edition, which means that the Edition Size is strictly set by orders placed from 2nd July until 4th September, 2011. Created by artist and author David McKee, Mr Benn actually made his first appearance in a set a four books published in 1967. However, it wasn't until 1971 that he was made into the successful BBC television series that made him a household name. Fittingly, the Gladiator is Mr Benn's most recent adventure into the Shopkeepers Costume Shop, and is taken from a book published in 2001, and made into a film in 2005.
