2. Rare Billy Whizz Prototype/Colourway .From the 2007 Auction .Only three known to be in existence -All different colours. Note the Headgear



Comparing with the standard piece :-

DO09 Billy Whizz dodgem can be seen in the on the right wearing a crash helmet with Nitrous fuel rather than Whizz fuel . Three of these were made and I believe and rejected by DC Thompson so were never released . The one released is pictured left. The three prototypes were sold at auction , all painted different colours , the last being sold at the 2007 auction.

4. Early BD09 - Smiffy -Note the different Mould



Two BD09 Smiffys

The one on the right is from a very early mould and this obviously got damaged, there seem to be very few from the early mould around. There were a lot of changes made if you compare the 2 pieces. Both of these are UK painted and initialled by the artist

5. Prototype - Teacher "Fifth Day of Christmas"
Originally submitted for consideration this example of Teach can be seen carrying a wine glass rather than the normal milk bottle, this was rejected by DC Thompson as not setting a good example so the 2 originals made were sold at the 2007 auction..

These are three examples of the `Erbert piece - They are all 1st. Editions and from the same mould .Note the differing hairstyles and painting of ties.

As most people are aware painting the Beano & Dandy figures made by Robert Harrop was done abroad from around 1998 so anything done after this time doesn't have the artist initials on the back and they usually have a sticker on the base that says Robert Harrop Designs Ltd where as the UK painted figures have a sticker that says Robert Harrop Designs Shropshire England. When the painting was done abroad there were a couple of mix ups in the paint schedule, BD12 always has black spots on her ribbon, when painted abroad she doesn't.
