The Six Ages of Dennis
2011 marks the 60th anniversary of Dennis the Menace and to mark this momentous occasion we are producing the 'Six Ages of Dennis'. Six figurines, each one a Time Limited Edition, one to be released every two months throughout 2011. An exclusive figurine for each decade, reflecting his evolution and progression of style throughout his six decades of dastardly fun.

The first Dennis, shown here, is the very first incarnation to appear in The Beano in 1951. Drawn by David Law, you will note the stripy school tie instead of the iconic hooped jersey, which did not appear until a few weeks later. All six pieces are Limited Editions which are strictly restricted to a two month selling period. The first piece, DLE60A, will go on sale from February 2011 until March 31st 2011. The second Dennis will then become available from April 1st for two months, and so on... * A limited edition hand painted ceramic resin figurine from the Beano & Dandy Collection. * Designed and sculpted in Shropshire, England by Robert Harrop Designs. * Approximately 4.25 inches (107mm) tall. * A Time Limited Edtion from orders placed before 31st March 2011. * Supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity, signed by Robert Harrop. * Individually hand numbered on the base. * Comes complete in a presentation box. Drawn by David Law, the style of Dennis was changed dramatically from short and stocky to tall and thin, although the now famous red and black jumper is now evident. All six pieces are Limited Editions which are strictly restricted to a two month selling period. This second piece, DLE60B, will go on sale from April 1st 2011 until May 31st 2011. Drawn by David Sutherland, the successor to David Law, the style has settled into what, for a certain generation, is Dennis's most recognisable form. Our Fourth Dennis, shown here, is based upon the comic strip illustrations to appear in The Beano from the late 90's. With David Sutherland, the successor to David Law, about to take semi-retirement in 1998, a new artist was needed and Lincoln artist David Parkins seemed to have the right credentials - he had great versatility...and his name was David! In August 1998 David Parkins took over The Beano's favourite menace and swiftly introduced a young pretender to Dennis's Menacing throne when he helped design the new addition to the Menace family - Dennis's baby sister, Bea. Our fourth figurine, to mark the six ages of Dennis, shows Dennis with his pet snake Hisser, complete with Egg cosy hat for hair!

Into the 21st Century and the mantel was again passed on to another artist; Nigel Parkinson. Parkinson began his career in comics in 1980 and for the next twenty years he worked for many British publishers including D.C. Thomson. His first work was for The Dandy in 1982 progressing to The Beano in 1997, including work on Dennis's sister Bea in her own strip called Beaginnings. In 1999 Parkinson commenced work on Dennis the Menace and has since alternated his interpretation of the character with other artists such as David Parkins, Jim Hansen and Tom Paterson becoming the main artist in the early to middle 2000's. Dennis flirted with television in 1996 with a series on the BBC, but it wasn't until 2009 that his TV Career started in earnest and the next age began... With some tweaks in style, Dennis and Gnasher first aired on the BBC in September, 2009, and was a ratings winner with a new generation of Dennis the Menace fans. As with the comic version, the television series features Dennis' Mum and Dad, his baby sister Bea, his chums Curly and Pie-Face, and not to mention his arch-enemy Walter, set in the world of 'Beanotown'.
