Saggar Maker Bottom Knocker The making of the saggar was a very skilled job, developed in the 18th Century ceramic industry to cope with the vast quantities of “ware” needed to supply worldwide demand. The very dangerous job of stabalizing the pile of Saggars was left to the apprentices. These were usually young boys who would knock the final props into place at the bottom of the vast kilns with wooden mallets known as mawls. * Hand painted ceramic resin figurine / statue from the Industrial Revolution Collection. * Designed and sculpted in Shropshire, England by Robert Harrop Designs. * Approximately 6 inches (152 mm) tall. * Comes complete in a presentation box.
